About Richard
A life lived as one continuous draft.
Richard Dana Smith began as an illustrator in the 1960s, became an art director at CBS alongside Lou Dorfsman, wrote and produced for HBO's first wave of original films, and ended his life as a sculptor of cabinets, mannequins, and salvaged objects.
He worked the way some people breathe — constantly, instinctively, without separation between life and creation.
